Something is wrong at Diamond. The teachers are distant and administration more political than serving. I have seen staff engage in hysteria, when there was no need, to the detriment of the students.

Diamond is an awesome place. :) Because I was a student there. No matter how scary I thought my teachers to be at first, I always enjoyed it every year. The clubs there are fun too, with a diverse choice! And I'm glad I went, because I made great friends, and I wouldn't have met them without Diamond to push us together. I disagree, the teachers there are very nice. I went in for lunch a bunch of times to get explained how things work, and they took time to explain to each person. And it's been great, those three years. (Oh yes, and it depends which teachers you have for how much homework you get. But looking back, that wasn't a lot of homework at all.) Tests? I didn't see THAT many tests. After all, students know best. Overall, this was a great school.

I'm pretty sure that there is a study skills class. At least, there was one a year ago.

Some great teachers, but the focus is on the testing; less on the kids and different learning styles. Sometimes transitioning from elementary school to middle school is hard for kids --- as a parent, i really think they have to work on this better (helping kids with the transition... maybe a study skills class?). There's a lot of entitled kids that have foul mouths - wish I had not subjected mine to this... scores of schools should also be about the atmosphere... rate the atmosphere (how about one star?)

I'm a student here and Diamond has been awesome for the past few years. The students are very nice, despite a few exceptions (everything has exceptions). Most of the teachers I've had are willing to help and nice. The music program is pretty good (I'm really into singing and very involved with the music program there). The school itself is academically ahead of other towns, but the teachers don't push you past your limit. It's an awesome school!

I was a student here and really loved the teachers. I was in sigma all three years, and really felt like i got a great education.

This school is just amazing! Lexington is a great town and the middle schools compete with each other (we all know that Diamond is better) to improve ourselves and our school community

For bright kids, this is one of the best middle schools you could find. Kids are consistently challenged and as a well educated adult I find the teachers extremely competent and engaging. Never before have I seen such talented staff. The talent of the kids is simply amazing...spanning all disciplines. My child would simply dominate in math at most schools, but at Diamond he competes with many other mathletes to represent the school in math competitions. Both Lexington middle schools historically dominate the state math competitions. And the math teaching is unusual and not to be believed. For example, advanced 7th graders may study combinatorics in class, which is a topic many do not reach until college.

our school is great. we learn faster, better things. our teachers are great. if you think that teachers are uncaring, its not their fault, its yours! if you ovi get behind then you will get mad and start blaming the teachers and the schoolwork. its middle school, getting you ready for high school, not everyting is going to be a happy smiles and kisses everyday. We rank in the top in math team, science olymiad, track and field, and mcas. But yes we do have set backs, like two years ago there was a couple of students that had drugs in their backpacks and lockers. not the teachers fault. its a public schools, we dont have police sniff dogs, or metal detechdors so oviously bad kids will sneak it in. Teaches and staff send out the right message about drugs and drinking, these mischifs chose not to listen. there.

I would like to disagree. Being in the school, many teachers have been kind and helping, the excellent courses, etc. In comparison to another school (which also has a middle school in it), this school has a much better environment. In addition, both the teachers and students here are kind and caring.

I agree with the comment about blame. This is probably the most kid-unfriendly, incompetent, schools I've experienced. With a few notable exceptions the staff is uncaring and incompetent, and the curriculum is stifling, disorganized, and irrelevant.

Diamond has a culture of blame. When a child is struggling the school's attitude is not to listen to the parent but rather to say that they know best and to blame the parent and the child.
